How to drop a tree

To drop a tree there are many steps you must go through even before you make your first cut. There are four steps before you even start your saw: The easy way to remember then is HELP

1)H: Hazards- can be as simple as a vine cathing or a tie strap on your chain breaking.

2)E: Escape routes- where you will go when the tree drops. Usually at 45 degree angles away from the direction of the tree falling. 85 percent of deaths are within 12 feet of the stump.

3)L: Lean- the way the tree leans you look directly up it to where straight would be and however it goes off the straight line is how it leans.

4)P: Plan- what you will do and how you will do it, which includes all previous steps and thinking ahead what if.

Your first cut should be your top cut. The top cut comes down almost perpendicular with the tree because you want your notch to be 70-90 degrees. Your second cut comes up from the bottom, and meets your top cut. Then, you come in directly behind where the two cuts meet from the back of the tree up to the hinge, which will vary upon DBH 4.5ft diameter at breast height. Your hinge thickness is 10% of the DBH, and your notch length is 80% of DBH which will give you the depth your notch should be. (http://images.inmagine.com/img/glowimages/gwp112/gwp112055.jpg

My Truck

I got my check from Toyota, finally. They recalled my Toyota at the begining of August and I just got my check in November. It sucked not having my own truck. And the check they gave me was only for 11,400 which was less then they told me at first. But once I got my check I could have Ryan and Annette look for trucks for me, I did too but they were better at it. Annette only looked for like a week and she called me. It was a Chevy 2002 tan, with brand new Mickey Thompsons. It sounded really good and only 6,800. It had like 90000 miles on it so it was a good deal. My dad was all for it so we bought it. I kept it a pretty good secret so I just showed up at school with a new truck. It has flow masters on it and everything. The emergency brake cable still isn't so I have to put a piece of wood in front of the tires. I had to buy new tires for the winter, and the rims didn't fit so I had to find new ones to fit in. Its so nice and loud, but it can be louder. I think im gonna put two straight pipes out the back. It'll be low pitched and loud, everyone will know its me. There is a little rust about the right rear tire that Im gonna have to get taken care of. Other then that its pretty nice and doesnt need anything really changed. I think I'm gonna get a new snow machine with the extra money, but I got a muzzle loader will was like 900$ so I will but only if my dad lets me. Huntin

This year i was sure i would get something. I got a new bow, Done Deal 2008, with everything i would ever need. Ellis got a PSE and we went hunting all of bow season. We saw some here or there but never got anything. It sucked because two of my uncles and two of my cousins all got at least something that season and I didn't. Duckie even ended up shooting one, 50lb. It didn't even have teeth. Then it was rifle season and I went out even more then I did during bow season. I went out with my dad in Taftsville but still never got anything. I was getting more angry about it all because my cousin Ethan, thirteen, just kept shooting deer left and right. Rifle season ended once again without me getting anything. I just got my own Muzzle Loader though, and that season starts this Saturday. I really hope I get something, because everyone else has, and all I want is a stupid deer.

thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is crazy at my house. Nana and Papa and Jimmy came up from cape cod like they always do. Shaelagh Lillian Ryan and Ethan came over to Cathy's for dinner at 2. Then Booner, Ethan, Melvin me and my dad went huntin. No one got anything of course, but we always go out on thanksgiving. Matt stayed at the house and played with fire. Then Ellis came home from her grandparents and i picked her up and brought her over. We had a fire. It was funny we were putting oil on the fire to make it bigger and Matt sent me and ethan to go get more. While we were in the garage Ethan and I topped off the bottles of oil with gasoline thinking that we were gonna be the ones putting it on. We brought it up and Matt got the urged to actually do smoething for once, so he was like poor the oil around the front of the fire so it gets the whole thing. But he didn't know that it was filled with gas so he started to pour it and it lit right up. He jumped so high it was funny. We couldn't stop laughin. Then he got all pissed at us, but it was worth it. Ellis was tired and not feeling well so she was inside with my mom and nana. Then they talked her into playing scrabble with them and Ryan. So she was doing that when I went inside. We left there around nine because she was tired. Then watched Spongebob or something for a while but she needed to be home by 10 so it was an early night. I love thanksgiving because its huntin and eatin. The turkey was good.

Football 2007

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/29/57401246_1c72575553.jpg?v=0The 2007 foot ball season started with hot double sessions. Our first scrimmage was against Claremont High School. The beat us bad, we thought it was going to be like previous seasons of 2-7. We went to our first game against Mill River all pumped wanting to win and set our season off on the right foot. We won 12-8 against them. We played Poultney next week we were up by 14 at the half. We ended up beating them 28-14 away. We started beating teams by more and more and we were headed the division 3 state championship against poultney. It was the climax of our season. It was a very cold night so we were all ready to beat them mercilessly because we played like crap on hot days. We were very confident we would so opening kick off we got the ball and scored we started slipping up fumbling and not blocking at half we were up by 7 and thought we could coast. Poultney thought otherwise by blocking us and out hitting us they started to gain the lead. We started to panic and the more we panicked the more we messed up. With two minutes to go Poultney was up by 7, we were pressing as hard as we could. We were running a 48 toss and as soon as the kid got outside he was hit, he fumbled the ball and took it back for 6 more points on the Poultney score. We are now down by thirteen. Poultney ended up winning 35-21 and that's why I hate them.
